Claims process :

We understand that bearing the loss of / damage to your vehicle can be quite stressful. Which is why, we do our best to ensure that your hassles are minimized and keep the claim process as convenient as possible. Here’s all you need to know about our claims procedure to help you get going.

Steps to follow

1. Intimation :

  • The claim can be intimated to the Claim Department on Tel. No. :—————-
  • Intimate BGIC Ltd. immediately along with Policy/Certificate, GD & place of accident details.
  • Do not shifted the vehicle to the workshop without the prior permission to the Insurer.
  • Do not leave the vehicle unattended at the spot of accident.
  • Lodge FIR with local police station immediately in case of Theft.

 

2. Documentation :

  • All documents as per checklist & depending upon the nature of incident to be submitted to the surveyor or to nearest BGIC Ltd. office.
  • Where photocopies are submitted, please produce originals for verification.
  • If additional documents are required, this will be informed by the surveyor or BGIC Ltd.
  • Do not enter into any agreement with any person not authorized by BGIC Ltd. in regard to the claim incident.
  • Ensure all declarations given to surveyor or BGIC Ltd. in relation to the claim are correct & genuine.

 

3. Settlement :

  • Execute the claim settlement discharge voucher in lieu of acceptance of the settlement proposed by BGIC Ltd.
  • BGIC Ltd. shall settle the claim within 15 days of receiving complete documentation & receipt of answers to queries raised.

Claims process :

We at BGIC Ltd. do our best to ensure that your hassles are minimized by keeping the claim process as simple as possible. Here’s all that you need to know about our claims procedure for our non-motor policies.

Steps to follow
1. Intimation :

  • The claim can be intimated to the Claim Department on Tel. No. :—————-
  • The claim can also intimate to the local BGIC Ltd. office
  • The claim can be intimated by the Insured/ Agent/Broker/ Insured’s representatives.
  • Request to provide the policy details while intimating the claim.
  • The date and time of loss, location and cause have to be provided at the time of claim intimation.
  • Request to intimate the claims as far as possible through the Tel. No. :—————-for better controls.
  • Provide the concerned person’s contact details for status updating.
  • Intimate to the Police
  • Intimate to the Fire Brigade
  • Do not disturb the loss scene before the police/survey inspection of the premises
  • Start loss minimization steps and protect the property

  • Arrange the newspaper cuttings and metrological reports

  • After any lass at first “Read the Important Notice” which is enclosed with the policy.
  • If any external damage to the packing observed insist for open delivery
  • Take the remarks of the carrier on the BL/LR/RR/AWB
  • Insist for the damage certificate from the carrier
  • Lodge a monetary claim on the carrier for any loss for which they are responsible
  • Take the photographs before opening the packing
  • Start loss minimization steps and protect the property

2. Registration :

  • All the claims on the valid policies will be registered by the Call Centre or concerned office and communicate the claim number to the insured.
  • Concerned claims handler contact details will be provided to the insured for any status updates.

3. Deputation of Surveyor :

  • Based on the nature and extent of loss the suitable surveyor will be deputed within 24 hours.
  • Surveyor contact details will be communicated to the insured by BGIC Ltd. office immediately.

4. Survey :

  • Depending on the loss location and travel time the survey will be conducted within 24 hrs. subject to maximum of 3 days for remote location where travel arrangements are not available.
  • Upon the completion of the initial survey the surveyor will guide the insured on Loss minimization and segregation of stocks, if any.

5. Documents :

  • After the completion of initial inspection the surveyor and BGIC claims department will communicate to the insured on the List of Requirement (LOR) cc BGIC Ltd.

6 . Survey Report :

  • Upon the completion of the reinstatement and submission of all documents including the repair bills and payment receipts the surveyor will release his Final Survey Report within a week time.

7. Claim Settlement :

  • Upon the receipt of the all documents from the insured the claim will be settled within the Turn Around Time mentioned below.
  • Claim Intimation: Any claim on non-motor policies has to be intimated to the insurance immediately.
  • Claim Registration: The claim will be registered if all the required information has provided by the insured or his rep.(4 working hrs)
  • Survey Appointments: Surveyor will be deputed immediately subject to information available on nature and extent of loss.(24 hrs)
  • Survey: First inspection will be carried out on the same day if the loss is within the city limits and others will be based on the distance from the major towns.(24 hrs)
  • Claim Processing: Claim will be processed within 15 days after receipt of the survey report, documents and any clarifications from the insured
  • Documentation: Documents list is provided with the Claim Form and same have to be submitted.
